The IRF European Riverprize
The second European Riverprize will be awarded at the Gala Dinner during the 6th European River Restoration Conference on 28 October in the City Hall of Vienna. This event is traditionally, attended by all of those involved in different areas of river management all over Europe and is a fantastic networking and professional development opportunity. The conference fee includes the admission to the Gala Dinner. The IRF European Riverprize is worth € 25.000 and is, sponsored by Coca Cola Europe. Also included in the prize is a Twinning grant to enable knowledge sharing along with associated support from the International River Foundation.
The 2014 finalists for the the 2nd European Riverprize rewarding are:
• Danube River (Transnational)
• River Mur (Austria)
• Danube River (Slovakia)
This year’s rivers finalists, all from Central and East Europe, have similarities in that they are strongly driven by nature conservation and EU funding programmes, however the vary distinctly in their approach concerning scale, development of management framework and stakeholder involvement.
The IRF European Riverprize will be judged by a panel of European experts and administered by the International River Foundation. The IRF European Riverprize gives recognition, reward and support to those who have developed and implemented outstanding, visionary and sustainable programs in river management. The overall prize will be awarded at the spectacular Riverprize Gala Dinner at the City Hall in Vienna, Austria, during the 6th European River Restoration Conference on 27-29 October.
